Golfing Holidays in Devon
Glen Cottage East is close to some of Devon's most fantastic golf courses in Devon.
You can view the club website by clicking the link below or read a brief overview below:
More information about these courses can be found on the Golf Course in Devon website
Saunton Sands
The famous links courses at Saunton justify the claim to be among the finest in Britain. The Championship East Course on 6708 yards, par 73 now sits alongside the newer West Course 6356 yards par 71.
East course
The strength of this course lies in the long par 4 holes which usually require a driver from the tee. The wind plays an important part in the decision-making process and the prevailing wind is from Hartland Point in the south west
West course
The West Course is a Championship course in its own right and arguably needs more attention to course management than its wonderful neighbour the East. The West in my opinion needs more thought to club selection from the tee and more precision into well guarded greens
Royal North Devon
The Royal North Devon is
rhe oldest seaside links in England, and is steeped in history. The clubhouse with its golfing museum offers a warm welcome to golders, today as it has done for more than a century. Spectacular views over Bideford Bay and the Lundy Island on the horizon.
Highbullen
Highbullens 18 hole course is set in some of Devon's most spectacular scenery, with dramatic views of both Dartmoor and Exmoor. On high ground between the Taw and Mole valleys, the course has been constructed to the highest standards, including U.S.G.A. specification greens. Tees have been well spaced to provide an equally good test for low and high handicap golfers. Unlimited golf for hotel residents. Hotel facilities include salmon fishing, indoor tennis, pools, snooker, squash etc.
Portmore
Facilities include, undercover flood lit driving range and two parkland courses designed by F.W. Hawtree & Son. The greens are built to full USGA specification, thereby dispensing any need for temporary greens during the Winter months. Opened in 1997, the existing 9 hole par 3 course, while user friendly from the front tees, offers a true test of golf from the back tees. The new 9 holes (part of a par 70, 6500 yard course) was opened in 1999. Built for the discerning golfer five of the 9 holes feature water including the spectacular eighth with its 180 yard carry across water to peninsula green. Pay & Play .
